Zach Grienke scored shortly after with a Line Drive from Adrian Gonzalez that put them on top (2-0). Grienke had seven straight scoreless innings to maintain the Dodgers lead (2-0). But, in the top of the eighth inning Matt Carpenter of the Cardinals hit a two run homer to even the score (2-2). The Dodgers responded in the bottom of the eighth with a go ahead homerun from Matt Kemp which won the game for the Dodgers (3-2).Matt Kemp
In the 2012 and 2013 seasons Matt Kemp was plagued with injuries, but caught fire in the second half of the 2014 season and gained this important win with a go ahead homer."I feel just blessed, man," Kemp said. "It's been a grind the last two years. Last year was a disappointing year for me as far as just sitting there and watching my team be successful. I thought I could have helped them a lot, but they did a really good job last year of getting as far as they did. I'm just blessed to be able to be on this stage and be able to be healthy and to help the team try to accomplish a big time goal."
Kemp has truly helped his team get to where they are now. He not only won this crucial game, but was a huge part of the Dodger's team. Hopefully he will stay healthy.
