Dodgers vs. Cardinals - NLDS Game 4 - October 7, 2014

Game 4 of the NLDS 2014 - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Saint Louis Cardinals

The Dodgers blew their last chance to stay in the playoffs. The Cardinals won the series 3-1. Here is how the Dodgers lost. In the 6th inning the Dodgers got ahead (2-0) with a line drive to right field from Juan Uribe that brought Hanley Ramirez home and a groundout from Matt Kemp that drove in a run. The Cardinals responded the next inning with a go ahead 3 run homer from Matt Adams. The rest of the game was scoreless and the Cardinals won the game and the series. The Dodgers are eliminated from the 2014 Postseason.

Puig Benched

Dodgers player Yasiel Puig was benched for game four in favor of Andre Ethier. This was supposed to give the Dodgers "the best chance to win today." Also, Before  the sixth inning last night Puig had seven consecutive strikeouts and was in a slump.

"Obviously I haven't been hitting against St. Louis," Puig said through an interpreter. "It's about winning the game, about putting the guys out there that he thinks can help us win the game."

End of Season

Overall the Dodgers had a good season.  I mean just look at what happened this year. Clayton Kershaw and Josh Becket both threw no hitters, and Yasiel Puig made amazing catches and homeruns... So, this is my last post of the season and I will continue to post next season. I hope you liked my posts and I hope you return next season.

Dodgers vs. Cardinals - NLDS Game 3 - October 6, 2014

Game 3 of the NLDS 2014 - Saint Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Well, the Dodgers once again got behind in the series. The cardinals now lead 2-1 and need only 1 more win to move on to the NLCS. Lets see how the cardinals won. In the bottom of the third inning Matt Carpenter hit a solo homerun to put the Cardinals ahead (1-0). The Dodgers responded with a clutch double from Hanley Ramirez in the sixth inning to tie the game (1-1). The Cardinals came on fire in the seventh inning with a two run homer from Kolten Wong to put the Cardinals on top (3-1). The Dodgers went scoreless the rest of the game and the Cardinals won (3-1). They now lead the series 2-1.

Dodgers Bullpen

Hyun-Jin Ryu was the Dodgers starting pitcher and held the Cardinals lead to 1 before being relieved. His reliever was Scott Elbert who gave up a two run homer that cost the Dodgers the game. Basically, the Dodgers have a solid starting pitching rotation but a very weak Bullpen. This is something they need to correct if they are going to be successful in the future.

Game 4 Preview

The Dodgers need a win this next game or else they will be eliminated from the playoffs and the Cardinals will win the series. They have decided to pitch Clayton Kershaw so they can hopefully pull this one out. Kershaw is being pitched only three days of rest so we will see how fast he can recover. Hopefully they get this win because they NEED IT!

Dodgers vs. Cardinals - NLDS Game 2 - October 4, 2014

Game 2 of the NLDS 2014 - Saint Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Well, they did it. They tied the series 1-1. In the third inning the dodgers put the first two runs of the game on the board, Dee Gordon grounded out and AJ Ellis Scored but Zach Grienke was called safe at second after a challenge from the Dodgers. Zach Grienke scored shortly after with a Line Drive from Adrian Gonzalez that put them on top (2-0). Grienke had seven straight scoreless innings to maintain the Dodgers lead (2-0). But, in the top of the eighth inning Matt Carpenter of the Cardinals hit a two run homer to even the score (2-2). The Dodgers responded in the bottom of the eighth with a go ahead homerun from Matt Kemp which won the game for the Dodgers (3-2).

Matt Kemp

In the 2012 and 2013 seasons Matt Kemp was plagued with injuries, but caught fire in the second half of the 2014 season and gained this important win with a go ahead homer.

"I feel just blessed, man," Kemp said. "It's been a grind the last two years. Last year was a disappointing year for me as far as just sitting there and watching my team be successful. I thought I could have helped them a lot, but they did a really good job last year of getting as far as they did. I'm just blessed to be able to be on this stage and be able to be healthy and to help the team try to accomplish a big time goal."

Kemp has truly helped his team get to where they are now. He not only won this crucial game, but was a huge part of the Dodger's team. Hopefully he will stay healthy.

Game 3 Preview

Game three of the NLDS 2014 should be interesting. With the series tied 1-1 the Dodgers no longer have a home field advantage and the Cardinals are right at home. I guess we'll see if the Dodgers can win this game away from home. Hopefully they can so they can get ahead in the series 2-1.

Dodgers vs. Cardinals - NLDS Game 1 - October 3, 2014

Game 1 of the NLDS 2014 - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Saint Louis Cardinals

Clayton Kershaw led the Dodgers into the first inning with a five run lead (6-1). Then the Cardinals put up 8 runs in the seventh inning including a three run double from Matt Carpenter to put them on top (10-6). We were all shocked when Adrian Gonzalez hit a two run homer to reduce the cardinals lead to two (10-8). Hope of a win was present again after that Clutch homerun. In the top of the ninth the Dodgers allowed no runs and were still only down by two. In the bottom of the ninth AJ Ellis singled on a ground ball, then Andre Ethier doubled on a line drive. With runners on second and third Dee Gordon was at bat. He grounded out but drove in a run that reduced the Cardinals lead to only one (10-9). With a runner on third Yasiel Puig was at bat. It was an amazing at bat but he struck out and the Cardinals won Game 1 of the NLDS 2014 by one run (10-9).

Benches Clear in the 3rd Inning

The benches cleared after Yasiel Puig was hit by a 90 mph fastball in the arm in the bottom of the third inning. Adrian Gonzalez and Yadier Molina had a heated argument near home plate as both benches were cleared. No punches were thrown. Both teams have a history of Hitting each other with pitches after Cardinals Pitcher Joe Kelly cracked one of Hanley Ramirez's in the first inning of the NL Championship Series last year.

Game 2 Preview

The Dodgers are hoping to tie the series in game 2  in Los Angeles with Zach Greinke on the mound. It will be interesting how Grienke will do after Kershaw's disappointing pitching performance in game 1. Hopefully Grienke can pull it out because the Dodgers need this win to tie the series 1-1.
